Seoul has been around in one form or another for over 2,000 years, and today, it is considered one of the leading cultural, financial and technological centres of the world. Seoul is the city that other cities wish they could be like; its airport is widely considered to be the best in the world, its public transportation is well-run and its technology is second to none. Seoul does an excellent job maintaining tradition in an ultramodern setting; although skyscrapers and Wi-Fi dominate the scene, you can still find things like traditional Korean dance and opera, tea rooms and ancient temples. Find out why for yourself why Chinese, Japanese and Thai tourists have voted Seoul as the top tourist destination for three consecutive years running by booking your cheap flights to Seoul today on BudgetAir.ca.
Unlike other Asian destinations, Seoul has four distinct seasons. The best weather is in the autumn months of September through November. During this period of time, you can enjoy the sun and the beautiful colors of the changing foliage. The second best weather of the year can be found in the spring months of April and June; in addition to the great weather, this is the time when the lovely cherry blossom trees begin to bloom. The summer is wet and humid; 60 percent of Seoul’s annual rainfall occurs during late June and July. The winter is very cold but quite pretty. If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding, then consider visiting in December, January or February.
There are five major palaces located in Seoul. Many of these palaces are reconstructions or have been restored, but they’re still amazing pieces of architecture. The most noteworthy palace of them all is Changdeok-gung, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was originally built in 1405. If you like to hike, visit Mount Bukhan, Mount Gwanak, Mount Samseong and Mount Inwang. Some beautiful shrines and temples in Seoul include Jongmyo Shrine, Guksadang, Jogye Temple and Bongeun Temple. For a more sobering look at the past, visit the Seodaemun Prison, a former prison infamous for its brutal treatment of prisoners.
